President Obama Reacts To Paris Shooting | French Magazine Charlie Hebdo...

President Barack Obama and his administration quickly expressed outrage at the terror attack in Paris Wednesday and offered sympathy and support to close ally France.

Obama, speaking from the Oval Office, condemned the “cowardly evil attacks” on satirical publication Charlie Hebdo that reportedly left 12 people dead, saying they reinforced why it’s important that the United States “stand in solidarity” with France, “just as they stand in solidarity with us.”

Secretary of State John Kerry, in his own remarks earlier Wednesday from the State Department, defended freedom of the press.

“The murderers dared proclaim, ‘Charlie Hebdo is dead.’ But make no mistake: They are wrong,” Kerry said. “The freedom of expression that it represented is not able to be killed by this kind of act of terror.”

The FBI is working with the French authorities to provide any needed assistance, according to FBI Director James Comey. He echoed both Obama and Kerry during remarks Wednesday at the Fordham University International Conference on Cyber Security in New York.

“My heart goes out to the people of France and Paris this morning. We are thinking of them,” Comey said.

Masked gunmen entered the offices of Charlie Hebdo, whose recent caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad have drawn condemnation from Muslims, in a killing spree whose victims included an editor and cartoonist, the Associated Press reported.
